Veterans, Service Members and Military Families

San Diego State University values its military-connected community. Our staff is here to answer your admissions questions, provide information on different educational programs SDSU offers, and connect you with resources on how to pay for college by way of Financial Aid and VA Educational Benefits.

SDSU accepts first-time freshmen and upper division transfer applications or readmission applicants who will have completed 60 or more transferable semester (or 90 or more quarter) units. 

San Diego State University is not accepting applications for a second bachelor's degree except in Nursing.

Spring Admission

San Diego State University is accepting applications for select majors from upper-division transfer students between August 1 and August 31 for spring admission. To get invited to apply you must submit an appeal. For more information visit Admission Appeals Process.

Fall Admission

San Diego State University accepts applications from upper-division transfer students between October 1 and November 30  for admission the following fall. Please visit SDSU's Admissions page for more information on available academic programs and next steps.

Active military service members, veterans, and upper division transfer student, may receive additional consideration for admission. Subject to change. For more information, please visit our Transfer Admissions page for the minimum requirements.

SDSU Military Admission Programs

SDSU's President's Military Special Admission Program

SDSU provides direct undergraduate admissions in both fall and spring for active duty service members who will separate within six (6) months of service. This special admissions is also offered to Wounder Warrior Battalion. NOTE: Majors in Athletic Training, Dance, English - Applied (ADT option), Kinesiology - Exercise Science Generalist (ADT option), Liberal Studies - Education-Generalist (ADT option), Music, Nursing, Psychology - Applied (ADT option), Social Work and Theater Arts - Performance are not eligible for this program for spring admission.

Wounded Warrior Admission Program

Sick, ill, or injured service personnel of any branch of service assigned within commands of Navy Medicine West or with U.S. Special Operations Command Care Coalition may be eligible for direct admission to SDSU under this program. Two slots are available each academic year.
