SDSU COVID-19 Testing and Vaccine Programs

Those seeking COVID-19 vaccines and boosters should contact their medical provider or visit a local pharmacy.

Vaccination Requirement

San Diego State University strongly recommends the COVID-19 vaccine, but it is not required for students, faculty, or staff. To review the university’s current requirements for students, please visit the SDSU Immunization website

All SDSU community members are encouraged to stay up to date on their COVID-19 vaccinations.  Community members who are unsure of their current vaccination status or recommendations for additional vaccination should contact their medical provider for guidance.

COVID-19 Test Locations - San Diego

San Diego State University students, faculty and staff (including auxiliary employees with RedIDs) are able to access self-administered PCR (molecular) COVID-19 test kits at the Calpulli Center during business hours at no cost. Submitted COVID-19 tests will not be analyzed if the individual is not a student or employee in SDSU’s database. 

SDSU community members can purchase rapid COVID-19 test kits at the Student Health Services Pharmacy during business hours.

COVID-19 Test Locations - Imperial Valley

  • To access no cost  testing, please follow these steps:
    Email the Imperial Valley Student Health Services (IVSHS) team at [email protected] and include your name, REDID number, and indicate that you are requesting a referral for COVID-19 testing.
  • The IVSHS team will send you a referral form and testing voucher that will allow you to access COVID-19 testing at the Calexico Wellness Center (CWC) at no cost to you.
  • To get tested, go to the CWC during their normal business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Follow directions to their COVID testing location, which is located at the back of their practice and call the office (760-270-9126) to advise them you have arrived for COVID testing.
  • Provide the CWC team with your referral and voucher. The team will collect your COVID-19 test and notify you of your results.
