Fall 2020 Combined On and Off-Campus Case Count
2,036: No. of total positive cases among all SDSU affiliates, including virtual-only students and employees who are teleworking and have no campus contact, since the start of instruction Aug. 24.
The Jan. 1 through Jan. 19 case count for students, faculty, staff and contractors with campus contact is 16 total.
Many U.S. colleges and universities are not reporting positive cases for virtual-only students living off-campus. However, in partnership with HHSA, SDSU has opted to identify all virtual-only and off-campus cases among SDSU students in San Diego county for full transparency.
While the SDSU and the County of San Diego Health and Human Services Agency report different test result types, SDSU will collate information regardless of test type, and post all known confirmed positive cases. The county only reports diagnostic tests (RT-PCR), while SDSU reports both diagnostic and antigen test results. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration provides information about different test types.
SDSU provides information about new cases connected with the university campuses and sends campus notices about new cases in compliance with U.S. Department of Education guidelines.
