Digital Marketing and Creative Services (previously Communications Services) creates
a wide variety of professional print and digital communications for the Division of
Student Affairs and Campus Diversity and its departments. We also collaborate across
campus on university-wide marketing needs.
Our goal is to support the values of student learning and development by providing
communication vehicles that help students connect to the university. We provide a
voice to current students, new students, prospective students and their families.

Student Assistant Positions Available for Fall 2024
FWS Student assistant (videographer/photographer)
SDSU Communication Services in the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity
Wage: $16.00/hour
Hours: 10-15 hours per week
Deadline: Jan. 1, 2025
Description: Planning a career in film or video production and looking to bolster your reel and resumé? Do you have Federal Work Study? Would a part-time job on campus help you complete an internship class?
The Digital Marketing and Creative Services team in the Division of Student Affairs and Campus Diversity is looking for a FWS student with video production skills to create and edit video for campus events, special projects, conferences and on our social media account @ExperienceSDSU.
Join an SDSU team that provides students with information about how they can connect with other students and opportunities at SDSU and provides students, faculty and staff with information about resources and support that improve equity and inclusion in our diverse campus community
Qualifications:
- Our student videographers help storyboard, shoot and edit short videos for social media, websites and events, as well as shoot and produce longer videos for events, websites and, occasionally, instructional purposes.
- Our videographers also edit videos submitted by our partners around the university and crew for each other as needed.
- We prefer experience shooting with a video camera and basic knowledge of lighting and audio. We use Premiere Pro or iMovie. Borrow our equipment or use your own.
- Experience shooting DSLR photos and using PhotoShop or Lightroom or Adobe Illustrator is a plus.
- Access to Federal Work-Study funding is preferred.
The videographer appointment is for the spring semester (preferably sooner) with the possibility of a summer/fall appointment.

Description: Planning a career in graphic design and looking to bolster your portfolio and resumé? Interested in social media or photography? Would a part-time job on campus help you complete an internship class?
Join an SDSU team that provides students with information about how they can connect with other students and opportunities at SDSU and provides students, faculty and staff with information about resources and support that improve equity and inclusion in our diverse campus community
Qualifications:
- Possess strong editing and production skills for print and web projects.
- Create and produce marketing materials that include, but not limited to: posters, rave cards, concept logos, brochures, e-newsletters, flyers, digital banners and advertisements.
- Prepare and finalize digital and print files.
- Must be able to work at minimum of 10 hours each week during the academic year.
- Must present a design portfolio and have basic understanding of graphic design concepts and skills.
- Must be familiar with Mac platform and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator).
- Must be familiar with print and digital formats (native files, JPG, TIFF, PNG, EPS, PDF, etc.).
- Access to Federal Work-Study funding a plus.
- Photography and social experience a plus.
- HTML/CSS knowledge in a CMS environment a plus.

Student Assistant (Social Media Specialist)

Wage: $15.50/hour
Hours: 12-20 hours per week

Description: Planning a career in social media communications, and looking to bolster your portfolio and resumé? Would a part-time job on campus help you complete an internship class?
Join an SDSU team that provides students with information about how they can connect with other students and opportunities at SDSU and provides students, faculty and staff with information about resources and support that improve equity and inclusion in our diverse campus community.
We are looking for an experienced and creative Social Media Specialist to join our team this summer. The Social Media Specialist is responsible for creating, editing and publishing content on the ExperienceSDSU Instagram account as well as our Facebook and Twitter accounts, to grow our audience, build brand awareness and boost student engagement. This position will work closely with the Communication-Public Affairs Specialist.
Qualifications:
- Develop, implement and manage our social media strategy.
- Create consistent and engaging content on ExperienceSDSU social media accounts.
- Produce digital media including casual/candid photography, simple reels/videos, animated graphics, GIFS and other designed content.
- Work with writers and designers to ensure content is informative and appropriate.
- Stay up to date with the latest social media best practices and technologies.
- Track and report metrics to continually improve strategies.
Qualifications:
- Thorough knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication techniques; ability to effectively use technology to achieve communication goals.
- Possess strong editing and production skills for reels and stories
- Solid interpersonal skills, listening skills, and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Experience with coordinating social media. Ideal candidates will be able to provide evidence of this experience through demonstration of a portfolio of past work
- Knowledge of applicable copyright and other laws pertaining to digital content and media.
- Ability to demonstrate an awareness and appreciation of the cultural diversity of the university community; and establish and maintain cooperative and effective relations with university employees, students and the public.
- Ability to establish, set and meet multiple deadlines, coordinate, prioritize and complete varied tasks.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision and set priorities in an often-changing environment.
- Professional demeanor and team player who demonstrates a sense of urgency, initiative, and follow-through.
- Willingness to work as required some non-standard hours including evenings and weekends, and working during campus emergencies.
- Team player
- Great interpersonal and communication skills.
