Less Than Half Time Enrolled Units
Most financial aid programs require that you are enrolled at least half time to receive any amount.
Less than half-time enrollment is:
- Undergraduate student: Fewer than 6 units
- Teaching credential student: Fewer than 6 units
- Graduate student: Fewer than 5 units
Fees and costs allowed
If you are enrolled for, or drop to, less than half-time enrollment, your financial aid award can be significantly reduced or canceled.
Federal law allows us to consider only certain costs when you are enrolled less than half time. Using a standard cost of attendance allowance, these costs are:
- Basic tuition and fees
- Out-of-state tuition
- Books and supplies
- Transportation
Costs not allowed
When you are enrolled less than half time, we must adjust your cost of attendance to exclude food, housing, and other miscellaneous expense.
Your enrollment may affect your award amount
If you are enrolled for, or drop to, less than half-time enrollment, your financial aid award can be significantly reduced or canceled.
