When Your Expenses Exceed the Award Amount
Your actual costs may vary from the standard Cost of Attendance depending upon your situation.
Certain expenses can be added to your cost of attendance resulting in an adjustment to your award (usually an increase to your student or parent loan), including:
- Childcare
- One time purchase of a computer per academic program
- Extraordinary medical expenses
Requesting an increase
Contact the Cal Coast Student Financial Center to be counseled on the Budget Increase process and to have a "Task" added in my.SDSU that will enable you to upload the form.
- Note: An increase of Federal Direct Student Loan and/or Parent PLUS Loan eligibility is usually what is available when a request is approved. A request to increase a loan is limited to one per semester for each type of loan.
