Compact for Success Requirements

The strength of the Compact for Success Program lies in rigorous college prep courses (A-G curriculum) available to all students. After completing all Compact requirements, students have the opportunity of guaranteed admission to SDSU.

The Compact guarantee of admission is only for students entering SDSU as first-time freshman. The guarantee does not apply to transfer students.

These requirements must be completed by the time of your application review.

  1. Maintain continuous enrollment in Sweetwater Union High School District (SUHSD) schools from 9th-12th grade (as of fall 2017) and graduate from a SUHSD high school
  2. Demonstrate compact readiness in English or be on track to meet this requirement by the end of senior year. These can be completed through the following criteria:
    1. SAT – score of 550 or higher
    2. ACT – Score of 22 or higher
    3. Advanced Placement Exam – a score of 3 or higher on either the Language and Composition or Composition and Literature exam
    4. International Baccalaureate – a score of 4 or higher
    5. A college level (100 level or higher) English composition course – completed with a grade of “C” or higher
  3. Demonstrate compact readiness in math or be on track to meet this requirement by the end of senior year. These can be completed through the following criteria:
    1. SAT – score of 570 or higher
    2. ACT – score of 23 or higher
    3. Advanced Placement Exam – a score of 3 or higher on the AP Calculus (AB or BC) or AP Statistics exam
    4. International Baccalaureate – score of 4 or higher
    5. College Board Math subject test – score of 570 or higher level 1 or 2
    6. A college level math course (intermediate algebra level or higher, defined as 100 level or higher) – completed with a grade of “C” or higher
  4. Complete the A-G Requirements with grades of C or higher by the end of senior year. For more information about A-G Requirements, please visit the SDSU course requirements webpage.
  5. Attain a 3.10 CSU GPA at the time of application and maintain through 12th grade.
  6. Meet all SDSU admission/enrollment deadlines including submitting a first-time freshman application to San Diego State University
    1. Cal State Apply must be submitted between October 1 and November 30
    2. Must not have any D or F grades during 12th grade in any subject
    3. Admitted students interested in enrollment must submit their Intent to Enroll by May 1.

For the class of 2021 the SAT and ACT exams are not mandatory. However, they are still included as options to Demonstrate Readiness for English and Math.

The Compact for Success does not guarantee admission to majors with additional qualifications required for admissions. Currently, those majors include Nursing, Music, Dance, and Theatre: Performance.

  6. Meet all SDSU admission/enrollment deadlines including submitting a first-time freshman application to San Diego State University.

    2. Must not have any D or F grades during 12th grade in any subject
