EOP Income Criteria
EOP applicants should demonstrate the family is unable to provide an annual contribution
of more than $1,500 toward their college expenses. These guidelines are intended to
identify and give priority to the most financially needy applicants. Low income criteria
is determined through the Student Aid Index (SAI) which is derived from the FAFSA application and cannot exceed $1,500 to be eligible
for EOP services. EOP applicants must apply for financial aid through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California DREAM Act application by January 5th in order to determine program eligibility by the priority deadline as spaces to SDSU
EOP are limited.
For dependent applicants, this contribution is based solely on the parental income and does not take into
account any parental assets nor does it assume any contribution from the student's
income or assets. For independent applicants, the contribution is based strictly on
income with no consideration of available savings or other assets.
For independent students with dependents other than, or in addition to, a spouse, use the income for the appropriate
family size in the Dependent Student Category. These guidelines reflect an income
level that will generate an Student Aid Index (SAI) of approximately $1,500 or below.
You are considered INDEPENDENT if any of the following apply to you:
- are 24 years old or older
- have dependents (i.e. children)
- are married
- a military veteran
- a documented foster youth
