Learning Support Center (LSC) Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Are there same day appointments?
A: No, to ensure our tutors have adequate time to prepare for your session, we require
appointments to be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. We highly recommend booking
a few days ahead of time, as our tutors are often fully booked.
Q: What can I do to better prepare for my tutoring sessions?
A: To make your tutoring session as productive as possible, please email the materials
you need help with to your tutor before your appointment. You'll find their email
address in the appointment confirmation from EAB Navigate.
It's also important to be on time and actively engage with your tutor. Remember, our tutors are here to guide your learning, not to complete your work for you. The more effort you put into the session, the more helpful it will be! We have a strict no-tolerance policy for academic dishonesty, and our tutors cannot do all the work for you. Come ready to answer questions and be an active learner!
Q: Is there tutoring on the weekends?
A: We do! We offer virtual appointments Friday night through Sunday night, depending
on tutor availability.
You can find the most up-to-date availability on our Tutor Availability Sheet. Just a heads-up, our front desk assistants can only schedule appointments during their working hours, which are Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. They won't be available to schedule appointments in the evenings or on weekends.
Q: What if there is no tutoring for a class I'm taking? May I request a tutor?
A: Yes, you may request a tutor for your subject by emailing our front desk at [email protected].
They will have you fill out a form to request a tutor. The LSC Coordinator will give
you updates via email so make sure you keep an eye out for any updates.
Q: How long does it take to find a tutor after I've filled out a Tutor Request at
the front desk?
A: The tutor search and hiring process takes about three to four weeks. However, depending
on the subject, tutors may be difficult to find. If we cannot find a tutor for you
within three weeks, we encourage you to ask your classmates and friends to come to
the LSC and become a paid tutor for you.
Q: What if I am dissatisfied with my tutoring session?
A: We understand that sometimes a tutoring session might not meet your expectations.
Your feedback is very important to us!
You have a couple of options to share your feedback:
Tutoring Surveys: We regularly send out anonymous tutoring surveys where you can provide
feedback on your session.
Speak with the LSC Coordinator: We highly encourage you to schedule a time to speak
directly with the LSC Coordinator to share your thoughts and concerns. To do so, email
[email protected].
Our goal is to ensure every session provides a safe and comfortable space for you
to learn and receive support. We want all our students to feel fully supported in
their learning journey.
