THE SCIENCE SUPPORTING MINDFULNESS PRACTICE
A number of recent studies suggest that mindfulness fosters many aspects of physical and mental health. These include:
- improvements in mood and reduced symptoms of anxiety and depression
- increased resiliency to stress
- improved concentration and cognitive performance
- improvements in immune function, blood pressure, and cortisol levels
- increased empathy and compassion
- increased sense of well-being
Although more research needs to be done, there is a growing body of evidence that mindfulness and meditation can be an important piece of your health and wellness.
