completed at least one year at SDSU and at least 75 units of college work completed
are eligible to apply. Applications of students on probation of any kind will not

Who is eligible to write my faculty/staff recommendation letter? Any current SDSU faculty or staff member is eligible to serve as your faculty/staff
recommendation writer. SDSU Auxiliary staff members (e.x., Associated Students, Aztec
Shops) are also eligible. Graduate student assistants, and retired faculty or staff
members are not eligible.
Does the faculty/staff member who writes my recommendation letter need to be the same
faculty/staff member who I write about in my essay (that made the most significant
contribution to my personal growth)? No, these can be two different individuals. One faculty/staff member can write your
recommendation letter, and you can write about a different faculty/staff member who
has made the most significant contribution to your personal growth. The person you
identify as having made the most significant contribution to your personal growth
in your essay will be awarded as your faculty/staff honoree should you be selected
as a student winner.
The application states that my community service hours must be entered in the Service
Hours database. I have not reported my hours. Am I able to report them now? Yes. Please report your service hours as soon as possible. You are able to report
all the hours you completed during your time as an SDSU student at this URL: sdsu.edu/service-forms.
The hours must be submitted prior to the application deadline.
Am I able to include information ( e.x., community service hours, leadership roles)
from dates before I was an SDSU student? No. All involvement items listed must be completed during your time as an SDSU student.
You are able to include involvement from academic breaks (e.x., summer, spring break)
as long as it occurred between academic years in which you were enrolled. We do not
accept involvement from high school, community college, or a different undergraduate/graduate
institution.
