Antionette Marbray
Associate Vice President for Student AffairsMs. Antionette Marbray serves as Associate Vice President for Student Affairs. Ms.
Marbray has more than 20 years of experience in Higher Education primarily in Student
Affairs and higher education law and risk management.
Prior to joining San Diego State University, Ms. Marbray held administrative leadership positions at the University of Florida and Bowie State University. These positions included serving as Assistant General Counsel and Interim Vice President and General Counsel, respectively. Immediately prior to joining SDSU, Ms. Marbray served as Director of Title IX and Equal Opportunity Employment Programs at the University of San Diego.
Ms. Marbray joined SDSU’s Student Affairs leadership team during summer 2015. This new role has brought Ms. Marbray back to campus, as she had worked at the university’s Center for Student Rights & Responsibilities in the early 2000s, first as associate director, and then as its director. Ms. Marbray’s professional experiences working in student development, as well as in capacities as a Title IX director and general counsel at several universities, give her a unique perspective as she embarks in the Associate Vice President role.
Ms. Marbray’s ability to listen and connect with her peers and students make her an asset to any campus community. Ms. Marbray is frequently commended as a kind, well-rounded and approachable leader who listens carefully to various points of view and provides thoughtful and insightful counsel to the issues facing the university.
Ms. Marbray’s current position at SDSU includes direct oversight of the following departments: Career Services, Center for Student Rights & Responsibilities, Compact for Success & Collaborative Programs, International Student Center, Student Ombudsman, and Testing Services. She also has a dotted line to overseeing the Assistant Deans for Student Affairs, Student Affairs at Imperial Valley Campus, and Student Athlete Academic Support Group.
She currently co-chairs the “Recruitment and Retention of Underrepresented Students” working group. She is also a member of the Diversity Equity and Outreach Committee (DEO), Undergraduate Council, and Student Success committee.
Ms. Marbray holds a Juris Doctorate from Duke University, a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Florida, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Florida.
