SDSU faculty and staff have access to professional development resources to support
recruitment and retention of faculty and staff who are reflective of the diverse students
and communities served by SDSU. These resources are available online through an institutional
membership to the Southern California Higher Education Recruitment Consortium (SoCal
HERC), a program of the Center for Inclusive Excellence. HERC resources can help us
recruit and retain diverse talent, cultivate an equitable workplace, and diversify
the pipeline of faculty, staff, and executives through outreach, advertising, career
advice, and job opportunities. HERC also provides networking and resources to bolster
equitable, inclusive recruitment and retention practices.
HERC’s offerings include self-paced resources for individuals and scheduled workshops and events for groups of participants. Below is information on the range of resources offered along with easy access links to account activation.
Activate your HERConnect account
All employees of SDSU (faculty and staff) can create an account for free under the institutional membership.
- Visit the HERConnect register page and create your account.
- View a short video on “How to use HERConnect”.
- Check your SDSU email for a confirmation/welcome email
- Log in to HERConnect and accept the terms and conditions.
Once activated, you can access all of the HERConnect resources on demand and receive
periodic emails for upcoming events and workshops that you can join as your interests
and schedule allow.

Diversity Outreach Resources
HERC works for recruitment and diversity hiring efforts. Reaching and retaining talented
and diverse candidates is crucial to achieving SDSU’s mission. To this end, all of
