Position Overview
As an intern on our Aviation Planning team, you will be an integral part of projects and support key members of our team. Our internship program provides all interns an opportunity to meet with leadership and work with mentors on both professional and technical development. Position Responsibilities

  • Perform, under close supervision, routine aspects of aviation-specific planning and environmental studies, requiring knowledge and application of principles learned in course of study.
  • May use computer-assisted engineering software and equipment to perform tasks.
  • Collect and prepare data for evaluation.
  • Assist in the coordination of projects from conception (feasibility) through final plan preparations.
  • Provide support to staff members as needed.

Function of Employing Unit
Instructional Technology Services (ITS) provides support and leadership to the university in the effective uses of academic technologies. We enhance learning, facilitate pedagogical research, and support strategic initiatives in service of student success. ITS fosters collaboration and innovation with faculty and university stakeholders in the design, development, and effective use of learning environments and educational media. There are 23 full time staff members and 17 part time student assistants.

Purpose of Position
Under general supervision of the Academic Media Staff, Academic Media Student Assistants assist in the development and production of high quality video, audio, and graphic materials for matriculated courses and the campus at large. Their essential duties include filming, editing, scriptwriting, and other media related tasks as needed. In addition, they provide training to faculty and staff on educational media development and provide miscellaneous academic technologies support.

Major Responsibilities/Duties

  • 60% of time: Assist with creation of media including scripting, filming, and editing educational or promotional materials for matriculated courses and the campus at large.
  • 20% of time: Assist faculty with lecture recording, available software, learning management system integrated media tools, and other general technical questions.
  • 10% of time: Assist with graphic design and emerging media production including 3D, compositing, 360, and other virtual asset creation.
  • 5% of time: Perform equipment quality checks and inventory as needed.
  • 5% of time: Other duties as assigned.


Requirements
Minimum Qualifications

  • Admission or registration as CSU student at least part-time.
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 2.6.

Fire Dispatcher

City of San Diego
Wage: $58,406.4–70,574.4 USD per year

Description
Fire Dispatcher positions receive and evaluate requests for fire and emergency medical service; dispatch appropriate fire and/or paramedic units to the incident; and perform other duties as assigned.

Fire-Rescue Dispatchers work on a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and are the primary answering point for all 911, 10-digit emergency, and non-emergency phone calls from within the City of San Diego (Fire-Rescue Department has dispatch contracts with Chula Vista, Coronado, Imperial Beach, National City, and Poway); elicit essential incident information from callers; determine the nature and extent of the request, the priority of the problem and the need for dispatching police, fire or medical field units; enter appropriate information by typing on a computer keyboard into a dispatch format; answer routine inquiries and refer calls not requiring dispatch to the appropriate department or agency.

Fire Dispatcher employees work 12-hour shifts (44/36 rotation schedule).

Fire Dispatcher employees may be required to work overtime during training, if needed, on cleared positions.

Fire Dispatcher employees may be required to work during all City holidays.

Fire Dispatcher employees are eligible for 17.5% additional pay after successfully completing the paid mandatory Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD) certification course.

Fire Dispatcher employees are subject to mandated overtime beyond their scheduled shift with short notice to maintain staffing levels.

The communication center in the Fire-Rescue Department operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with day, evening, and night shifts. Dispatcher I employees will be rotated to different shifts on a periodic basis.

Possible Wage Increases
Employees in job classifications represented by Municipal Employees Association (MEA) are scheduled to receive the following general wage increases:

  • 5% effective 1/1/24
  • 4% effective 7/1/24
  • 2% effective 1/1/25
  • 5% effective 7/1/25


In addition to the scheduled general wage increases, the following special salary wage increase is also scheduled to take effect for Fire Dispatcher:

  • 5% effective 1/1/25

Eligible benefitted employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS).
