COMMENCEMENT HONORS SDSU GRADS!
Congratulations to the San Diego State University Class of 2022! This month, we celebrate
your accomplishments at Commencement from May 13-15 at Viejas Arena for San Diego
campus students.
Graduation season kicks off at the SDSU Imperial Valley Campus on May 12 at 7 p.m.
on the Rollie Carrillo Quad.

for families and guests.
Graduates, please take a second to fill out the SDSU Outcomes Survey beginning May 2! The first 150 students who fill out the survey will receive a $5
Starbucks gift card. Your feedback will give you a chance to have your voice heard
and help future Aztec grads.
APIDA HERITAGE MONTH
May is Asian Pacific Islander Desi American Heritage Month, which serves as a national
celebration of the history, contributions and achievements of the APIDA communities.
APIDA Heritage Month was designated to commemorate the first Japanese immigration
to the United States on May 7, 1853, while also honoring the Chinese immigrants who
worked to complete the transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869.
Come celebrate the month with the APIDA Resource Center, which will have a slate of
events to celebrate the month including an APIDA Graduation Celebration held on May
8 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Templo Mayor. Please register online by May 6 to participate.

Aztecs Shops Launches Equitable Access
Aztecs Shops recently announced the creation of Equitable Access.
The program provides every SDSU undergraduate student with access to their required
textbooks by the first day of class, all for $22 per credit.
The program provides undergraduates with predictable pricing from semester to semester.

New Flyer Shuttle Provides Free Rides to Airport from Old Town
The San Diego County Regional Airport Authority has introduced the “San Diego Flyer”
a free electric shuttle bus service between San Diego International Airport and Old Town Transit Center.
Students can take the MTS Trolley to Old Town to catch the shuttle, which will operate
seven days a week, with an average arrival time of every 20-30 minutes.
For SDSU students 18 or younger, this means you’ll be able to get from campus to the
airport for free, beginning May 1, when all youth in San Diego will be able ride MTS
services for free with a youth PRONTO opportunity pass.

Take Summer Session to Get Ahead, Stay on Track to Graduate!
Registration for summer session classes is still open!
One summer course can put you back on track to graduate on time, open up time for
an internship, job, student organization or study abroad next year or even lead to
early graduation!
Last year, more than 10,500 students took at least one summer course. This summer,
classes will be held both online and on campus.
SDSU has added additional four-week and six-week sessions for a limited number of
courses.
More students than ever before are also eligible for financial aid.

TAKE A Y2K BREAK BEFORE FINALS

Before diving into finals May 6-12, rewind to Y2K with Midnight Study Break on May
5!
It will be a full night of your favorite childhood games, competitions like music
trivia and free food.
Opportunity drawings for gift cards and themed prizes will be held all night long!

AZTEC SPRING SPORTS ARE ON FIRE!
While you’ve been getting ready for finals, your San Diego State spring sports teams
have been dominating the competition!
The Aztec men’s golf and women’s tennis teams just wrapped up Mountain West Conference champions and have now advanced to
their respective NCAA tournament brackets.
And your women’s softball team, led by dominant senior Maggie Balint, is on its way to a Mountain West Conference regular season title and a return to the NCAA D1 Softball Tournament for the first time since 2015.

Financial Aid awards for continuing students who filed the 2022-23 FAFSA and have
no pending items on their “to-do” list will be available via my.SDSU in mid- to late
May.
If you have not done so already, please check your my.SDSU portal for pending documents
on your “to-do” list. Submit these documents as soon as possible. You will not be
able to see your eligibility for the 2022-23 academic year until you do so.
Recovery Anniversary on May 3
It's time to celebrate! We'll bring the music, games and food (free pizza and edible
cookie dough, as well as healthy options!). Just bring yourself and some friends!
The Recovery Anniversary, hosted by Well-being & Health Promotion, will be 6 p.m to 9 p.m. May 3 in the Calpulli Center Conference Rooms.
It’s open to all, so come out and help us celebrate all the efforts made by students in recovery this past year!
SDSU Go! is going to Disneyland June 4!
SDSU Go! is kicking off the summer with a fun and free trip, but you have to register.
The registration form opened April 29. Priority will be given to students enrolled in SDSU summer courses.
Registration will be reviewed in the order received and doesn’t guarantee participation.
Attendees will be provided with a Park Hopper admission ticket, transportation and
a lunch voucher. Attendees must ride the SDSU Go! transportation to and from campus.

Monday Night Movies Presents Disney’s “Moana”
Join us at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union Theatre at 6:30 p.m. May 2 for a
screening of Disney’s animated classic “Moana.” The movie is free and snacks will
be provided.
Monday Night Movies is one of the Associated Student Union Board’s signature monthly events.
Students are also invited to the last Nooner of the semester on May 4 in the Goldberg Courtyard of the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union from noon to 1 p.m. Sit and relax while student band Blank Space provides lunchtime entertainment.
Digital Humanities Showcase Returns
The annual Digital Humanities Showcase is back!
The event, which celebrates the wide diversity of creative-critical digital work happening
across campus, will be from 10 a.m. to noon May 6 in the DH Center (LA 61, bottom
of the Dome).
Since the COVID-19 pandemic derailed the event in 2020 and 2021, students will be
displaying their work from the past three years. The showcase is an informal digital
poster session in which participants display and discuss their work, exhibit hybrid
analog-digital pieces and offer project demos.

CRMSE’s Distinguished Lecturer Series Continues May 5
Renowned mathematics professor Marta Civil will be speaking at SDSU from 4 - 6 p.m.
May 5 as part of the Center for Research in Mathematics and Science Education Distinguished Lecture Series.
Civil is a professor of mathematics education and the Roy F. Graesser Chair, Department
of Mathematics, University of Arizona. Her lecture is entitled “A Reflection on My
Work on Funds of Knowledge and Parental Engagement in Mathematics Education.”
The lecture will take place at the Theatre in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union. Attendees can also view the lecture via Zoom. Register to sign up for both in-person and Zoom attendance.

The Sexual Violence Climate Survey Closes May 13
It takes each of us to make change happen. Help SDSU to develop and improve campuswide
sexual and relationship violence prevention and intervention services by completing
the 2022 Sexual Violence Campus Climate Survey. All students have been emailed a unique link to the survey, which closes May 13.
All participants will have the opportunity to enter a drawing for a set of Apple AirPods
Pro. Participants will be notified toward the end of the survey period with information
about retrieving their item(s), if applicable.

Scholarship Fund Set Up in Honor of Late SDSU Student
Friends of a San Diego State junior who died in 2020 have set up a scholarship fund
in his honor to support mental health awareness.
The Noah Hytken Memorial Fund includes a scholarship that will directly support SDSU
students and both their mental health and physical well-being and honor Hytken's memory.
Hytken was 20 when he died. The business finance major was involved in club lacrosse,
leadership positions within Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity, TAMID and the San Diego Jewish
community.

Aztec Scholarships is open, so apply now! SDSU has over 700 scholarship opportunities
valued at over $5 million to support our students’ educational goals.
The general application in Aztec Scholarships will be open through August 5, 2022,
for awards in the 2022-23 academic year, with a priority deadline of May 13, 2022,
for current students and incoming students who have submitted their intent to enroll.
