Recently, SDSU researchers led by associate professor Jillian Maloney spent 12 days at sea identifying potential hazards to coastal communities, including how often underwater earthquakes and landslides may happen, how large they could be, how likely they are to generate tsunamis and what the overall impact these natural disasters could have on seaside localities.
