The Struggles within La Cultura - Mini Conference

This event will be a mini conference hosted by HSI SAB. This conference will allow participants to join discussions about different issues facing the Latinx community. The format will include a keynote speaker, 3 breakout sessions to focus on specific topics (for example: justice impact, drug abuse, immigration/enforcement, and wellbeing/stress), and will culminate with a reception to break bread.

La Despedida - Latine Graduation

We know college life has not been an easy journey; know we see you, and we lift you up to celebrate your success here at SDSU and beyond! Please join us as we come together to celebrate YOU and fellow Latine/x peers with a Graduation Celebration!

La Despedida will take place on Friday, May 8, 2026 in Montezuma Hall from 2-5pm!

Latinas in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math)

Join us on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 2-5 pm in PSFA 100 to listen to inspiring and powerful women talk about their journey as Latinas in STEAM. Gallery walk, food, panel and connections!!!

HACU accepting Emerging Leaders Council applications

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities has partnered with American Red Cross
Biomedical Services to offer 16 Emerging Leaders Council Scholarships, each in the amount of
$3,000.
The program equips students to lead campus-based service initiatives, strengthen donor diversity,
and advance health equity through education, outreach, and community engagement. Scholarship
recipients must host a minimum of three blood drives per academic year on your campus and are
required to attend an in-person training May 31- June 5 in Atlanta, Georgia. Travel
accommodations will be sponsored by the American Red Cross Biomedical Services.
The Emerging Leaders Council Scholarships are available to freshman, sophomore, or junior
college students of all majors who meet the following eligibility criteria:

Must be bilingual in English and Spanish.
Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
Must hold a leadership position on campus and an active member of a recognized student
organization.
Must be enrolled at one of the following 4-year institutions from various states, including
Arizona, California, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Nevada, New Jersey, Tennessee,
and Texas.
Students must also write an essay responding to the following topic: Reflect on your experience
or contributing to a meaningful project or initiative on your campus. How did you engage others,
and what impact did it have? How would you apply those experiences to organizing a successful
blood drive (at least three pers academic year) as part of the Emerging Leaders Council?
The deadline to submit applications is March 16, 2026.

HACU Conference Student Track

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), founded in 1986, represents over 500 colleges and universities across the U.S., Latin America, Spain, and U.S. school districts. HACU is dedicated to advancing Hispanic success in higher education. HACU offers a wide range of professional and leadership development opportunities for students, including:

  • Internships
  • Scholarships
  • Leadership programs

The Office of HSI affairs sponsors a few selected students every year to attend this conference. Stay tuned for further details in the early fall. 

Students interested in attending the HACU Annual Conference this upcoming fall are encouraged to apply! The conference includes a dedicated student track focused on leadership, networking, and career development.
