HSI STUDENT ADVISORY BOARD
The HSI SAB serves serves as a forum to evaluate and enhance the quality of the Latinx and Hispanic student experience. It focuses on advocacy, community building and event planning.
Students who are part (and meet the requirements) of HSI SAB will have access to some professional development funds.
If interested in applying, please fill out this application by Friday, September 4th.

We’re excited to share upcoming opportunities to celebrate, connect, and grow! See below for key details and deadlines.
HACU Conference Student Track
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), founded in 1986, represents over 500 colleges and universities across the U.S., Latin America, Spain, and U.S. school districts. HACU is dedicated to advancing Hispanic success in higher education. HACU offers a wide range of professional and leadership development opportunities for students, including:
- Internships
- Scholarships
- Leadership programs
Students interested in attending the HACU Annual Conference this upcoming fall are
encouraged to apply! The conference includes a dedicated student track focused on
leadership, networking, and career development. The Office of HSI affairs sponsors a few selected students every year to attend this
conference.

2026 Tijuana Transborder Graduation
The Tijuana Transborder Graduation took place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 from 4-6 pm in UABC, Tijuana campus. It was a beautiful ceremony that exemplefied collaboration, culture and accessibility.

The Struggles within La Cultura - Mini Conference
This event was a mini conference hosted by HSI SAB. The conference allowed participants to join discussions about different issues facing the Latinx community. The format included a keynote speaker, 3 breakout sessions to focus on specific topics (for example: justice impact, drug abuse, immigration/enforcement, and wellbeing/stress), and culminated with a reception to break bread.

La Despedida - Latine Graduation
La Despedida was a beautiful graduation ceremony where students had the opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments in community and with their loved ones.
It took place on Friday, May 8, 2026 in Montezuma Hall from 2-5pm!
