HAPPY 125TH BIRTHDAY, SDSU!
Since March 13, 1897, SDSU has embodied its teaching, research and outreach mission, and its public good pledge to change lives and communities for the better. To honor the history of our great institution and the many contributions of our students, faculty, staff and alumni, San Diego State University is hosting a 20-month anniversary celebration commemorating the March 13, 1897 founding of the institution and the first day of classes on Nov. 1, 1898.
SDSU will kick off the festivities March 14 with two events as we recognize the university’s vibrant history and promising future – a community open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Montezuma Hall and a birthday celebration from noon to 1 p.m. at the Goldberg Courtyard, Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.

REGISTER FOR SUMMER SESSION!
Yes, you’ve still got two months of the Spring semester left, but it’s never too early to start thinking about Summer School.
The 2022 Summer Session kicks off May 24, and is a great way to get on track to graduate on time or leave room in your schedule for an internship, a job, participation in a student organization next year or other valuable experience.

SDSU Recovery Science Colloquium slated for March 11
The SDSU Recovery Science Colloquium is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 11 at Templo Mayor in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union.
Learn about research, both from scientists and SDSU students, related to the treatment of substance abuse disorders and how to support individuals in or seeking recovery.
Those who attend will get a free catered Chipotle lunch - RSVP today!
ATS Fee forums continue in March
Students are encouraged to learn about the Accelerating Tech and Sustainability (ATS) Fee and provide feedback by participating in the Campus Fee Advisory Committee's (CFAC) facilitated Spring 2022 alternative consultation process.
CFAC, which has a majority student representation, is asking all SDSU students to attend the scheduled forums, which began on Feb. 14 and will continue through March 4. During the forums, students can learn about the ATS fee, how it would be utilized and also share feedback. Those attending a forum must bring a valid SDSUcard (RedID) to receive the official feedback form.
Pulitzer-Prize winner Annette Gordon-Reed headlines inaugural Dean’s Lecture Series
The College of Arts and Letters Dean Monica Casper is pleased to host Pulitzer Prize-winning
author, historian and legal scholar Annette Gordon-Reed at 4:30 p.m. March 3 at the inaugural Dean’s Lecture Series.
Gordon-Reed, who authored the New York Times Bestseller “On Juneteenth,” will speak on the topic “Exploring our Past and Looking to the Future: Understanding
America’s Legacy of Inequality,” with a Q&A following her lecture.

POWERFUL SLATE OF EVENTS FOR WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH
March is Women’s History Month, and the Women’s Resource Center has prepared a slate of empowering and insightful events.
The Women’s Resource Center is kicking off Women’s History Month with a virtual keynote on March 3 featuring noted author Roxane Gay.
On March 14, the Native Resource Center and Women’s Resource Center will host “Violence on the Land/ Violence on Our Bodies,” a presentation guided by the study conducted by the Women’s Earth Alliance and the Native Youth Sexual Network.
And finally, LA-based Salvadoran poet Yesika Salgado will close out the month on March 23 with a live performance in-person at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union Theater (or virtually via livestream on Zoom). Visit the Women’s Resource Center for more information about the events.
SDSU COMMEMORATES JEWISH HERITAGE MONTH
This March marks the first Jewish Heritage Month celebrated at San Diego State University
to pay tribute to the generations of Jewish people who have helped form the fabric
of history, culture and society.
While nationally, May is the month designated for Jewish Heritage Month, SDSU will pay tribute earlier while students are on campus.
SDSU is committed to honoring this new tradition by educating SDSU’s students, faculty,
staff, alumni and community-partners about the achievements and contributions of Jewish
people during Jewish Heritage Month and throughout the year.

SUPPORT YOUR AZTECS BASKETBALL TEAM ON ANOTHER TOURNAMENT RUN
The SDSU Men’s Basketball team is looking to make a run to its second consecutive
NCAA Tournament appearance. But it needs you to show up and be loud.
Come out to Viejas Arena for one final time March 3 and watch the Aztecs take on Fresno
State. Then, get ready to head out to Las Vegas to watch the team compete in the Mountain
West Tournament March 9-12.
Additionally, the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union will host a viewing party for
the Aztecs’ Mar. 5 road contest against Nevada at Aztec Lanes starting at 7 p.m.

Student Success Fee application deadline March 28
Are you interested in administering an academic project outside of your classroom
experience or traveling to a conference, conducting research or bringing a speaker
to campus?
Apply for a Student Success Fee award before the Mar. 28 deadline.
Submit a proposal to request funding for a project to be implemented during the 2022/2023
academic year.

SDSU IV to build a STEM building at the Brawley campus
SDSU Imperial Valley is building a new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) facility
at the Brawley campus.
The new structure will house labs for STEM programs, such as the new public health
program coming to SDSU Imperial Valley and the potential addition of a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Nursing (BSN).
