This workshop will present the basics of intellectual property to graduate students at SDSU in an engaging way that is relevant to their fields of study. We plan to introduce the different forms of intellectual property (IP), the situations which graduate students are most likely to find themselves in regarding IP and how to navigate that with their PI’s and the university Technology Transfer Office. We also plan for the workshop to show how intellectual property and commercialization have benefits beyond the financial aspect and how they can be used to increase the positive societal impacts of a wide range of research.
