The 25th annual SDSU Family Weekend on Oct. 7-8 is a chance for your families to celebrate your experience and accomplishments at SDSU.

There are events planned for the entire family, including a Family Weekend brunch at the Aztec Student Union, a tailgate at the new Snapdragon Stadium, campus tours and open houses, a picnic and serenade at Scripps Cottage with a live band, welcome back receptions, an involvement expo for students, departmental open houses and much more!

Families will receive a welcome packet, goodie bag, lanyards with name tags, access to exclusive discounts at the SDSU Bookstore, Mission Bay Aquatic Center, Aztec Lanes, Bartell Hotels and more!

Career in Sciences panels coming in October

The College of Sciences Student Success Center is hosting two Careers in Sciences Panels for October.

There will be a handful of panelists from different career paths to talk about their experiences and give advice.

On Oct. 7, the panel will discuss careers in math and statistics, and Oct. 21’s panel will discuss careers in computer science.

Both panels will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Shelley BioScience Center Gold Auditorium.

SDSU Student Symposium application window opens Oct. 3!

The symposium (formerly the Student Research Symposium) is slated for March 3 and 4 and is a public forum where students at all levels and disciplines have the opportunity to present their research, scholarship and creative activities to the SDSU and San Diego communities.

The application window opens Oct. 3 and closes Jan. 20.

Latinx heritage month

CELEBRATE NATIONAL HISPANIC & LATINX HERITAGE MONTH AT SDSU

The weeks between Sept. 15 and Oct. 15 mark National Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month, a time to honor the culture, traditions and contributions of Hispanic, Chicanx and Latinx communities.

As a federally-designated Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), San Diego State University is proud to celebrate the many contributions of our Hispanic, Chicanx and Latinx students, faculty, staff and colleagues.

Filipinx heritage month

CELEBRATE FILIPINX AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH WITH THE APIDA CENTER!

October is Filipinx American History Month, and the APIDA Center is hosting a series of events to highlight the contributions of Filipinx Americans in our culture.

The Center will be hosting speaker events addressing the history of the Filipino hip hop and DJ music scenes, the pensionados at SDSU, Black and Filipinx American student experiences and more.

APIDA Center will host FAHM-themed craft nights on Mondays, music nights on Tuesdays, movie nights on Wednesdays and game nights on Thursdays.

The APIDA Center is also teaming up with One SDSU Oct. 20 to host a Makers’ Market from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Student Union Courtyard. Makers, do-it-yourself-ers, entrepreneurs and singer-songwriters are encouraged to sign up by Oct. 10 to sell products or sing an original song on stage.

Student Success Fee application deadline Oct. 24

Are you interested in administering an academic project outside of your classroom experience or traveling to a conference, conducting research or bringing a speaker to campus?

Submit a proposal to request funding for a project.

Attend a virtual workshop to learn more about the application and program opportunities on and off campus. The deadline to apply for a Student Success Fee award is 5 p.m. Oct. 24.

Homecoming Court to be announced Oct. 6

The ten Royal Court members will be announced at noon Thursday, Oct. 6, in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union Goldberg Courtyard.

Homecoming Week is Oct. 31- Nov. 5 this year, culminating at 4 p.m. Nov. 4 with the Homecoming football game at the new Snapdragon Stadium vs University of Nevada - Las Vegas

APSA 9th Annual Market and APIDA-POP EXPO this month!

Calling all anime, BTS, & K-drama fans! POP on over to the APIDA-POP Expo at the Tula Community Center on Oct. 21st from 10 p.m. - 1 a.m. Come celebrate all things K-Pop, J-pop, P-pop.

There will be Asian snacks, APIDA-POP activities, random dance play, cosplay contests and more. Join Aztec Nights, the APIDA Center, and APIDA Student orgs for a poppin night!

The Asian Pacific Student Association will also host its 9th Annual Night Market on Oct. 26.
