Admitted Undergraduate Student Checklist

  • As an admitted student, you will receive an email from [email protected] with instructions on how to activate your SDSUid account. Complete the steps in the email to activate your account. This account will be used to log in to multiple systems at SDSU for business and academic purposes.
  • After you complete the intent to enroll process, you will receive information about how to access your new SDSU email account. It is important you check this new email constantly, as we will send you important admission and financial aid information to this email address.

  • For information about residency for tuition purposes, including the documents you will need, exemptions, and the appeal process, please visit The SDSU Office of the Registrar. You may also visit the California State University Website for information and resources for undocumented students, including DACA updates, financial aid information, legal services offered, and information about the admission process.
  • If you are an undocumented, DACA-mented, or a DREAMer student, you should be getting an email from our residency specialist sometime around April. This email will have a residency questionnaire you will need to answer and a list of documents you have to provide in order to qualify for the California Nonresident Tuition Exemption (for information about exemptions, such as AB 540, click on the Policy and Legislation tab to the left).
  • If you qualify for a California Nonresident Tuition Exemption, you will pay in-state tuition. It is of utter importance that you submit all of the required documents as soon as possible so you know how much you will pay for the academic year and start making a plan to pay for college. If you have not received an email from the SDSU residency specialist by the end of April, please contact us or the SDSU Admissions Office with urgency.

Please note: not having cleared residency will keep you in limbo and will block information such as but not limited to Financial Aid award, EOP admissions, etc.  It is important that you submit your documentation, check my.SDSU to ensure your residency has been listed (resident). If the following does not work email Robert Yslas ([email protected]) and CC our Director Cynthia Torres ([email protected])

  • Accept the offer of admission, submit the Intent to Enroll form, and pay the non-refundable deposit.
  • The non-refundable deposit for admissions is different from the housing deposit. The non-refundable admission deposit will apply toward your fall basic tuition and fees. You can start this process by logging in to the MySDSU and selecting the Intent to Enroll link.
  • Admitted first-year students from outside the SDSU local admission area are required to live on campus for two years. If applicable, the Student Housing License Agreement will be available to you online through the Housing Portal in early March. A nonrefundable fee of $375 is due with your license agreement. Review the Office of Housing Administration website for the most up-to-date information on the housing application process and for more information.
  • Keep in mind that you will be signing a legal contract with SDSU and payment is expected.  Check your financial aid, apply for scholarships and if you are eligible to work research job opportunities.  Avoid going into collections (for you or your guardian(s).  If you have a serious concern regarding financially affording housing please contact Cynthia Torres, with your name, RED ID and your situation before the May 1st deadline.
The completion of this form is critical to your fall course registration and your experience at New Student Orientation. Make sure you fill it out!

DUE ON MAY 15TH!
1. Submit official transcripts from all institutions you have enrolled in and submit official test scores.
2. The transcripts need to be official, sent electronically, and must include your fall grades and show what courses are in progress. If your school does not send electronic transcripts you may use the SDSU Office of Admissions mailing address. To obtain the address and for information about how to submit electronic transcripts, please visit admissions.sdsu.edu/transcripts
3. If you have taken AP, IB, or CLEP examinations, you will also need to send these official test scores. Please visit the SDSU Admissions Website for information about how to request these exams.
4. If you are a high school senior, you may want to submit your SAT or ACT test courses for course placement. Please visit the SDSU Admissions Website for information about how to request these exams.

DUE BY JULY 15TH!

  • Official transcripts with your spring grades must be submitted electronically. If you are a high school senior, the transcripts must also have your graduation date (to comply with AB 540 criteria). If you are a transfer student, your transcript will need to have your degree conferred if you are transferring via the Associate Degree for Transfer pathway.  If you are not a CA resident or do not meet AB 540 requirements you will be required to pay non-resident tuition
  • You should have already submitted a California Dream Application. If you have not, do not panic, just submit it as soon as possible. To find out more information about the California Dream Application (CADA), please click on the Paying for College tab to the left.
  • If you have any questions regarding the California Dream Application, you can seek help from a high school counselor, college counselor, or the Undocumented Resource Center.
  • Once your application has been received you’ll receive an email from the SDSU Financial Aid Office. You’ll be directed to log into your My.SDSU portal to check the status of your application.
  • After your financial aid package has been awarded, make a plan to pay for college. To see a list of expenses to create a financial plan, visit admissions.sdsu.edu/first-years/admitted

Please note: Undocu-applicants must have their residency determined (AB 540 or resident) so they can access the amount of financial aid they will be receiving for the academic year.  Therefore you are responsible to fill out and submit the residency questionnaire and AB 540 form sent to you (upload to your WebPortal)

  • Scholarships are available in the Aztec Scholarship Portal during the application period, which takes place from Spring to mid-August. Families should make financial arrangements to pay for university expenses in full. Scholarships are not guaranteed.
