Celebrate GreenFest — There is no Planet B!
GreenFest, SDSU’s signature celebration of sustainability, diversity and campus pride, is back!
This year’s theme is “There is No Planet B,” and the March 11-15 festivities culminate with the annual GreenFest concert headlined by rapper Denzel Curry. The concert is free to all SDSU students (limited tickets available).

Aztec Scholarships App Window Opens March 11
The application period for 2024-25 Aztec Scholarships opens March 11. Apply any time before Aug. 30, but it’s recommended that you submit an application by these early-action deadlines:
- April 5: continuing students; incoming students who’ve submitted intent to enroll.
- Aug. 2: incoming students who submitted intent after April 5.
FAFSA, Dream Act Apps Now Open
The 2024-25 FAFSA and Dream Act applications are open. Apply now to maximize chances for aid; priority deadline is April 2.
The FAFSA application has big changes. If you have questions about either app, visit the Financial Aid website.

Travel to Oaxaca for
Global Health Internship
Join SDSU and CSU students this summer for a transformative global health learning experience in the vibrant and culturally rich city of Oaxaca, Mexico. Geared toward those interested in social work, public health, nursing or related fields.
SDSU students should apply by March 1 for priority consideration. The final application deadline is March 15.

'Barbie’ Screening Highlights ASUB March
Put on your best Barbie core and have a Barbie-tastic time, as Monday Night Movie features the hilarious, thought-provoking “Barbie” movie at 6:30 p.m. March 25 in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union Theatre.
Enjoy the magic, laughter and empowerment with free entry and free movie snacks while supplies last.
Aztec Student Union Board’s March schedule also includes the monthly Open Mic Night, Cooking With Chefs, and Nooner, as well as the March 20 “Union Nights of the Round Table” event with free Round Table Pizza and medieval-themed activities.

Student Designs Star in
Black Fashion Week Show
The second annual Black Fashion Week Fashion Show hits the runway at 5 p.m. March 22 at Montezuma Hall in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union. Students will model and showcase their own designs, expressing the versatility and creativity of Black culture.
The theme of the show, presented by the Black Resource Center, is “Black and Crimson Edition.”
School of Music and Dance
Has Something for All Tastes
From flamenco to opera to the music of Appalachia, the School of Music and Dance has a March month of events to thrill your senses:
Kick it off 6 p.m. March 4 with “Spanish Flamenco: La Chimi & Friends.” Continue with SDSU Opera Theatre’s presentation of “Hansel and Gretel;” a weeklong theater performance of “The House of Bernarda Alba;” an afternoon concert by the Bill Yeager Jazz Orchestra playing the music of Count Basie; “Sounds of Ireland: Fish Market Trio;” and Appalachian music by Clinton Davis and Aaron Brownwood.

SDSU Events Celebrate Women’s History Month
SDSU is commemorating Women’s History Month in March with a slate of empowering events.
- March 4: “Chisme as Survival: A Talk with Rubén Angel” will be held from 5:30-6:45 p.m. in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union Theater. This event is in collaboration with the Feminist Outreach Coalition.
- March 12: The “Pregnant and Parenting Students Initiative (PPSI) Resource Fair” will be held from noon-4 p.m. in the Lee and Frank Goldberg Courtyard at the Student Union. This event is in collaboration with the Basic Needs Center and Student Parent and Allies Association.
- March 21: “Marchas Feministas: A U.S. and Latine Lens” will be held 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the International Student Center Lounge. This event is in collaboration with the Latinx Resource Center.
- March 26: “Identity Unfolded: Zine Narratives and Identity Exploration with Malaka Gharib” will be held from 4-6 p.m. in Templo Mayor at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union. This event is in collaboration with the Aztec Student Union Board.

Jewish American Heritage Month Observed in March
SDSU celebrates Jewish American Heritage Month in March by paying tribute to the generations of Jewish people who have helped create the fabric of our history, culture and society.
SDSU is partnering with Hillel SD on a slate of events that will educate the university and greater community about the achievements and contributions of Jewish people during Jewish American Heritage Month and throughout the year.

Vote for Your Student Representatives
Vote in the Associated Student Elections from 8 a.m. March 25 to 7 p.m. March 28. The A.S. officers and committees represent students in the university governing structure.
Students can only vote online through their my.SDSU during the elections window.
The election results will be announced at 9 p.m. March 28 in the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union Goldberg Courtyard.
To learn more about the candidates, attend the executive officer candidate debates at noon on March 19, 20 and 21 in the Goldberg Courtyard.

Aztec Achievement Award Nominations Due March 3
The Aztec Achievement Awards recognize excellence in the contributions that students, faculty, staff and community members make to SDSU.
Apply or nominate someone else for their outstanding contributions to SDSU or to Associated Students. The nomination window closes March 3, so visit Aztec Achievement Awards to learn more about the various awards and how to nominate.

JMS Screening Circle

Join the School of Journalism and Media Studies at 5 p.m. March 19 at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union Theatre for the JMS Screening Circle featuring author, actor and writer Christopher Rivas.
Rivas will discuss his latest book, “Brown Enough,” in which he shares about finding his Latinx identity in today’s America. The event, open to all students, will highlight the lack of diversity in the media and provide a space for students to share their stories.

Aztec Unity Project
Aztec Unity Project sponsors two-day service learning opportunities for SDSU students to serve the local community.
This month, join your peers as we travel to one of ProduceGood’s local farms to harvest fresh produce to donate to San Diegans who are food insecure. In April, connect with residents of the Seacrest Village Retirement Community. Scan the QR code to register!
Funds Available for Speakers,
Student Projects or Travel
The deadline to apply for a Student Success Fee award is March 5; awards support academic projects outside of your classroom experience, conference travel, research or bringing speakers to campus.
Submit a proposal to request funding for a project to be implemented during the 2024-25 academic year.
Also, the Division of Research and Innovation has limited funds available to support undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activities for this semester.
Funds are available for every college and will be awarded on a rolling basis until
exhausted.
Only one RSCA Travel or Material Fund Form may be completed by an SDSU mentor (tenured/tenured track faculty, research professors,
and lecturers).
Student Research, Creativity Celebrated at S3 on March 1-2
The 17th annual SDSU Student Symposium, or S3, will open at 8 a.m. March 1 and run through the day on March 2 at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union. Learn more at the S3 website.
Undergrad and grad students will present their research, scholarship and creative activities to the public; there are cash prizes; and the top winners will represent SDSU at the CSU Student Research Competition in April.
Aztecs Basketball Teams Charge into the Thick of March Madness
The SDSU men’s and women’s Basketball programs are heading into the stretch runs of their seasons — each with postseason hopes still alive. Celebrate the programs’ seniors at Viejas Arena on March 5 (women) and March 8 (men) as the teams face Wyoming and Boise State, respectively.
Then, support your teams on their runs through the Mountain West Conference Tournaments in Las Vegas — the tournaments’ winners receive automatic bids to the NCAA basketball tournaments.
The women’s conference tournament is March 10-13, while the men’s is March 13-16. Can’t make it to Vegas? Watch the games on the Mountain West Network and CBS Sports Network and on CBS for the men’s championship.
Get your brackets ready for Selection Sunday on March 17, as we wait to discover where our teams are headed in the postseason. (Men’s brackets, 3 p.m. CBS; women’s brackets, 5 p.m. ESPN)
“Vote & Amplify” kickoff March 6
The SDSU Harold K. Brown Knowledge, Education and Empowerment Program (HB KEEP) is hosting an event to inform and empower students of color to make their voices heard at the ballot box.
The “Vote and Amplify” campaign kickoff will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. at the BRC Backyard in connection with the Afrikan Student Union and the San Diego Urban League. The event will include a voter registration drive.

Black Career Fair coming March 29
The 2nd annual Black Career Fair is coming from noon-4 p.m. March 29 at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center.
Last year’s inaugural event had representatives from more than two dozen vendors and companies, as well as career industry professionals on hand.
