Welcome Back! It’s the Spring Semester!
Spring semester has arrived, and we’ve got some great, FREE fun for you courtesy of Aztec Nights!
From mini golf to Lotería, magic and enchantment, Aztec Nights will help get the semester off to a great start and help you reconnect with friends after the winter break, and make some new ones as well!
- Arc Par-Tee, 9 p.m.-1 a.m., Jan. 24 in the Aztec Recreation Center: The ARC will be transformed into a 45-hole mini golf wonderland along with mini basketball hoops, mini ski ball and billiards, and more! Food provided by Shake Smart!
- Bidi Bidi Fun Fun, 9 p.m.-1 a.m., Jan. 25 inside Montezuma Hall: Join us for a night of Lotería and Kahoot! hosted by Lady Blanca, along with performances by Ballet Folklorico Xochipilli de SDSU and a live Selena tribute band! Free pepperoni pizza (Selena’s favorite) and other snacks will be provided!
- A Mystical Evening of Magic & Mind Games, 9 p.m.-1 a.m., Jan. 31 inside Montezuma Hall: Get up close and personal with an interactive magic show with hypnotist experience and show off your trivia skills for a chance to win awesome prizes. Free popcorn and Domino’s Pizza!
- Once Upon A State: 9 p.m.-1 a.m., Feb. 27 inside Montezuma Hall: Join us for an enchanted night of live drawing lessons, inflatable jousting, fantasy trivia and enjoy free hot dogs, churros, hot pretzels and more!

Teaching Credential Application Workshops
Are you interested in a career in teaching? The School of Teacher Education is hosting multiple application workshops for its teaching credential programs during the month of January. The application deadline for Fall 2025 is Feb. 1. Click here to apply.
SDSU Safe Ride is Here!
The University Police Department and SDSU Information Technology launched the newly-improved
SDSU Safe Ride program, formerly the Red & Black Shuttle.
Using the SDSU Safe app, students, faculty and staff can request a safe ride shuttle to 30 different campus
locations. The shuttle services will run on weekdays between 7 p.m. and midnight,
excluding university holidays. All riders must present a valid Red ID.
Sign-Up for Spring Aztec Unity Projects
Aztec Unity Project is a two-day service learning opportunity for SDSU students to serve the local communities. On day one, students will learn about a local nonprofit and how they benefit the community. On day two, they will be onsite at the nonprofit to participate in their service activity. Celebrate Black History Month at SDSU
This year’s theme is “African Americans and Labor” and focuses on the various and profound ways that work and working of all kinds – free and unfree, skilled and unskilled, vocational and voluntary – intersect with the collective experiences of Black people.
- Black, Culture, Art, & Soul, Feb 6: A presentation of black arts including live music, food, spoken word and more, 6 p.m. at Scripps Cottage!
- Dance with the Diamonds, Feb. 12: Get up and move with the SDSU Diamonds at 4 p.m. in the BRC Backyard as we learn new and classic line dances!
- Super Sunday, Feb. 16: Listen to an empowering message from our faith-based partners. Event begins at 3 p.m. at the BRC Backyard.
- Black Resource Center Career Fair, Feb. 21: Join us at noon at the Parma Payne Goodall Alumni Center for a career fair catered to networking and professional development.
- Black Research Symposium, Feb. 28: Observe various research presentations made by students, faculty and staff beginning at noon inside Love Library. The BRC’s 7th anniversary will also be observed during the event.

This week is dedicated to second-year students at SDSU and there are many fun events

AS Elections Application Window Opens Jan. 24
Run in the Associated Students elections! The application window for the 2025-26 school
year opens Jan. 24.
Make your impact by serving as an A.S. student leader to grow professionally, build
relationships with others and contribute to positive change at SDSU. Forty-one elected
positions and 24 appointed positions are open — no prior experience in A.S. is necessary.

Greenfest Concert Headliner Reveal Feb. 10
The secret is out! Join us from 6-7:30 p.m. Feb. 10 inside Montezuma Hall for a silent
disco and be the first to know who the 2025 GreenFest Concert artist will be!
Then, tune into this year’s GreenFest artist before the concert at the GreenFest Listening
Party from noon-1 p.m. Feb. 26 in the Union Courtyard. Enjoy food, activities and
more!
The GreenFest concert takes place March 7 and is the culmination of SDSU’s weeklong
signature sustainability event. Previous headliners have included Gunna, Denzel Curry
and T-Pain.

SDSU Go! field trips feature free weekend activities for students to explore the San Diego region and beyond! The field trips operate on a first come, first served registration process that prioritizes students who have yet to attend an SDSU Go! field trip, ensuring we can accommodate as many unique students as possible.

Free HIV Testing Feb. 6 and 26
Stop by The Pride Center from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Feb. 6 or Feb. 26 for free HIV testing provided by the Community
Health Improvement Partners at San Ysidro Health. Testing is confidential, there are
no age requirements and no ID is necessary.
Students are required to complete a consent form and questionnaire containing questions
to sexual health; both are provided on-site. Testers will receive results in 20 minutes.
RSO Training Sessions in January and February; Application Cycle Closes Feb. 1
The spring 2025 registered student organization (RSO) application cycle closes Feb.
1. Students who are looking to start or renew an organization must also complete RSO
Officer Obligations (RSO3) and Inclusive Leadership Awareness training sessions in
order to complete the application.
The Glazer Center for Leadership and Service will be hosting several virtual training sessions in January and February. Contact

SDSU Valentine’s Day Film Festival Feb. 14
The SDSU Film program presents Valentine’s Day Film Festival takes place at 7:30 p.m.
Feb. 14, at the Main Stage Theatre. All tickets are $10. If you love love (or love
to hate love), this evening of short films is for you! Enjoy a night of romantic films
by SDSU student filmmakers for Valentine’s Day.

SDSU Theatre Presents: Six Characters in Search of An Author
SDSU Theatre presents "Six Characters in Search of An Author” Feb. 21-Mar. 2 on the
Prebys Stage.
A quirky group of unfinished characters crashes a theater in crisis, hoping someone
will complete their story. The director decides to stage it, but chaos erupts as characters
and actors battle over whose version is the "real" one!

New format for Inclusive Leadership Awareness Training
The Inclusive Leadership Awareness Training team is excited to pilot a new format.
The workshop is now divided into two parts: A and B.
Part A content will be available as a Canvas module that students can complete at
their own pace. Once the module is completed, students will be directed to Canvas
with Part B zoom registration links.

The SDSU Center for War and Society and the SDSU Center for Comics Studies is hosting
a public lecture entitled “Militarizing Cold War Children” from 12:30-1:45 p.m. Feb. 13 in the Gold Auditorium of the Donald P. Shiley Bioscience
Center. Kara Dixon Vuic, the LCpl. Benjamin W. Schmidt Professor of War, Conflict and Society in Twentieth-Century America at Texas Christian University, will give the discourse. The lecture is free. |

Summer and Fall ‘25 Study Abroad Deadlines Approaching Fast!
The application window for summer and fall 2025 study abroad and international internships
opens Jan. 27 and closes March 17.
To get started, students must activate their profile in the Global Education Portal (Aztecs Abroad) and complete the online advising steps. All programs require advising
including the faculty led and custom programs.
Students then meet with an advisor in the Global Education Office (GEO) to initiate
their program-specific application. Find advising details on the Global Education Portal. Scholarships are also available on the GEO Scholarships page.
