The Black Transfer Student Success Conference aims to connect with community colleges and prospective Black transfer students by featuring a keynote speaker, workshops and sessions focused on the admission process, campus resources and community building. This year's theme and initiative will be BEATS also known as Black Excellence Advancement for Transfer Students. There will be food, performances and an opportunity to meet different departments and student organizations across campus.

Through on-campus opportunities, internships, and community engagement, students are succeeding academically and becoming leaders in their fields. What sets Project Rebound apart is its diverse community, which values lived experience and encourages folks to embrace their pasts. This program is part of a national movement to humanize formerly incarcerated people, recognizing their resilience and strength. They are advocates for social justice, challenging inequities, and pushing for reform while lifting others with them. The journey is about thriving, not just surviving, and using our experiences to inspire real change.

Building CommUNITY: Strengthening Connections Within the Black College Experience

This presentation will focus on fostering a strong sense of community among Black college students, with an emphasis on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by this group. We will explore the power of unity, cultural pride, and shared experiences in navigating academic, social, and personal obstacles. Attendees will engage in meaningful discussions about identity, belonging, and advocacy while learning practical strategies to build strong networks, leverage campus resources, and cultivate a thriving Black community. By the end, participants will feel empowered to not only succeed individually but also contribute to the collective strength and success of the Black student body and as a transfer student.

Vision
BTSS is committed to ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for transfer students by creating opportunities for community building, networking and academic and professional growth. Students will have the opportunity to connect with other transfer students, SDSU faculty and staff and receive relevant resources to support their academic and career paths.
